February Webinar Topic - Division 296 tax update: tax on those with more than $3m in super

Date: Tuesday 10 February 2026
Time: 1.00pm - 2.00pm AEDT

It's been three years since the Government first announced its intention to introduce a new tax on people with more than $3m in super. The Treasurer announced a major re-think in October 2025 and draft legislation was released in December 2025. The Government plans to have this in place from 1 July 2026. In this webinar we'll provide an update on where we are, explain the new calculation and flag key issues to consider before 1 July 2026.

Is there a better way to reform the CGT discount?

The capital gains tax discount is under review, but debate should go beyond its size. Its original purpose, design flaws and distortions suggest Australia could adopt a better, more targeted approach.

Super is catching up, but ageing is a triple-threat

An ageing Australia is shifting the superannuation system’s focus from accumulation to the lifecycle of retirement. While these pressures have been anticipated for decades, they are now converging at scale and driving widespread industry change.
